how is the racial or political category of Black utilized in the UK?
Does it also include different ethnic and mixed backgrounds? Is there a history of, for example, South Asians identifying as black? What about the Irish?
I’d ask my family in the UK but I haven’t spoken to them in a couple of years due to family politics, in typical desi fashion
The first time I’d ever seen Black to include Asians (typically referring to South Asian) was when I heard about these politicized groups:
http://www.southallblacksisters.org.uk/ and the London Black Revolutionaries but I can’t seem to find anything about them online
Hope that helps xx
